As his title states, he is the former spirit of the Millennium Ring that possessed Ryou for years. Their relationship is complicated and painful, particularly because of the fact that he and Ryou continue to misunderstand each other and butt heads from time to time. Despite this, Ryou still considers the Ring-Spirit family, and rather than call him "Richard" like others do, he instead opts for "Spirit." They're partners, even if they aren't really the best at it. That's just how it is. Sometimes you just got a toxic relationship and you're tryin' to work through it because you're monsters and there is nothing else to do! :)
Former pharaoh, current vengeance spirit in vampire form taking residence in Ryslig. Ryou's head over heels for this funky dude, and they've been dating for a while, despite how silly THAT seems! Ryou has grown very attached, and very protective of Atem since October, and although he's not as easy to sacrifice himself, he is ride or die for anything Atem wants to do. #simp
Just about the only Fog priest that Ryou doesn't have a problem with. He thinks highly of Noa, though he doesn't necessarily believe it goes both ways, because Noa is a no-nonsense kind of guy. It's, uh. It's probably understandable, given his backstory! That said, total respect, 10/10 would pet this cat.
[DROPPED] Ryou considers Yugi his best friend back home, and has done his best to treat him this way even now. Unfortunately, Ryou's also pretty sure he's been a burden to Yugi the whole time he's been here. Now that Yugi's gone back to the Sea of Stars, Ryou will just have to deal with those feelings and never let them go...because they never discussed it during the Krakaskron outbreak...
This is Ryou's preincarnation. He...doesn't get it, how they're anything alike. He knows the Thief King's backstory, because how could he not given that he fabricated the board for the ultimate Shadow RPG for the Ring-Spirit back home? Unfortunately, he doesn't have the luxury to try and unpack ALL of that, because Bakura also hates his boyfriend, and Ryou has to be in position to prevent that from being trouble later on. Also it is very confusing having another Bakura around. This one even goes by his last name, what is he supposed to do with that?
Number Five "Horatio" Hargreeves The Umbrella Academy youngtimer
An asshole (affectionate). Ryou is aware that Horatio can be smarmy, but he still has great respect for him. Maybe it's the, uh, weird family dynamic? Or maybe it's because Horatio's helped both him and Atem out plenty. Either way, despite some rough patches in how Ryou perceives their friendship, he stil believes in and trusts Horatio, and he'll go to him for Fog advice if he needs to. Also thanks for always being a bro about substances. Sometimes a shade's just gotta bake. Literally and figuratively.
[DROPPED] Celeste is still someone Ryou respects, for her style choices, her skills in sewing, and just the way she carries herself. Now that she's gone, he wishes that he'd done a little more for her, and he can't help but admit that he misses her jabs at him, even though the whole busybodying thing her and Horatio did was absolutely mortifying. He hopes she's happier being away from the troubles of Ryslig...but it's hard to know.
At first, Ryou wasn't sure what to make of Mukuro, but like Celeste, he was convinced that she was, at her core, a good person. When she nearly ripped Atem's arm off, he did have to reevaluate a bit, but he still believed in her, because she helped him acclimate to being a werewolf. Now, after some time...he's come to realize that although she has her soft spots, Mukuro Ikusaba is not a "good" person. She is a product of her environment, and although he doesn't blame her, he understands at last. Ryou deeply respects her ability to protect those she cares about, and trusts her advice, though it is a little...hard for him to swallow. Additionally, she's pack. He's not a wolf anymore but she's pack and she'll have to live with it. sorry he doesn't make the rules.
[Dropped] Best girl, honestly. Around Annie, Ryou feels like he can be open and make jokes. He doesn't usually do that with people, because he doesn't usually feel so completely at ease. But Annie has taken care of him before, verbally, physically, just. She's helped him through so much. Without her (amongst others), how would he ever have reached the point in his life where he felt comfortable climbing Atem like a tree? Now that Annie's gone...Ryou regrets having not spoken to her in a while, but he hopes that she's okay, peacefully resting in the Sea of Stars.
Over time, Altair has endeared himself to Ryou. They met as their false selves in the alternate Ryslig, but over time, have bonded over their shared appreciation in baking and the arts. Furthermore, Altair has gotten Ryou to talk about himself almost as freely as Annie. He trusts this guy wholeheartedly, and feels severely indebted to him for his kindnesses. And that chessboard, holy shit dude.
Yuzu, like Ryou, was rolled shade when they first arrived in Ryslig. They both had a pretty rough time getting used to it, of course, and during that time, they forged a friendship out of it. Even when Yuzu shifted her monster type, Ryou could only be happy for her! He's protective of her because of how young she is. Now that he's gone Fog, though...he's afraid that her opinion of him will change, probably for the worst. He hasn't really brought it up to her though, because there hasn't been a time to...and now he's even more frightened to, because of how she feels about the broadcast...
Someone that Ryou met in the false Ryslig and who he had history with. He finds that Runyu is a wise individual, and trusts whatever he has to say. To his reckoning, Runyu is simply a kindhearted, softspoken soul who definitely doesn't deserve to be stuck here. However correct that is or not...Ryou's opinion hasn't had much time to change.
Even before Ryou knew who Javert was, he'd already had his mind affected by said vampire's tier up stunt, causing him to go on his first and only spree and kill so many humans that Ryou can scarcely recall the number. He's also responsible for Ryou being incarcerated in the human run circus during that same event. As a result of this, and the fact that Ryou was soundly insulted over the network by Javert, he neither likes him or trusts him, and only tolerates his presence for occasional good advice dispersed between caustic responses, and because Atem seems to, for whatever reason, like this guy.
Everyone seems to have a problem with this guy. Ryou should probably have a problem with this guy. And...he kind of does? Ryou doesn't really like Aunamee, as it is, because he seems like the kind of guy who has curated his entire life experience around what he thinks is right and good, and he's a real mama's boy when it comes to the Fog...but until something explicitly happens that pisses him off about Aunamee, he isn't in a place to form any negative opinion. He does keep his distance though, other than the network. He isn't about to set a cannon off at himself, or Atem for that matter.
[DROPPED] Ryou's opinion of Daniel is, generally, unfavorable. It was even before he started dating Atem, because Atem was still a friend at that time, but knowing the extent of what Daniel's torture caused has cultivated very poisonous feelings within Ryou. Unlike some others who are in his periphery as threats however, Ryou is of the opinion that, for the most part, Daniel is harmless and regrets what he did to both Atem and Dandy. Thus...he'll speak to you, you weird bastard. But he is a little put off that Daniel doesn't seem to get that he and Atem are dating, not just living together as friends. It's weird. He doesn't know why he's so insulted about it but he is.
Someone that Ryou is actually, legitimately afraid of. AM seemed to think it good sport to set Ryou on fire during the dollhouse event, and Ryou knows this because AM didn't just fire on him once. He did it multiple times. AM is dangerous and Ryou doesn't want anyone to take action against him, for fear that they will only create trouble for themselves. The only time he took action against AM was to save Atem from being captured, and he has a feeling that AM hasn't forgiven him for that. He's terrified that if they cross paths again before Ryou can become stronger...he might not survive it.
A person that Ryou is terrified of wholeheartedly (not unlike AM), but also someone who has his actual, undying hatred (not unlike Javert). Gabriel Rhodes's (formerly Morgenstern) name is forbidden in Atem and Ryou's apartment, both because of what he did to Atem and also because he took Ryou's last free death, not even on purpose, and then managed to make Ryou feel at fault for it even though he was just trying to protect someone he cared about. There are a great many stifled feelings festering within Ryou's heart about this man, and only time will tell how long he can keep a lid on them. He hasn't found out about the Ring-Spirit being tortured by Gabriel's husband, but that can only make things worse, when it finally comes up...
He wants to make him pay. He can't make him pay. He wants to. Can't. Won't. Will. Shouldn't.

Ryou respects Komaeda, but he doesn't know if he likes him. Their conversations seem heavy and sharp, like carrying a box lined in razor blades that's slowly being filled with rocks. He's also somewhat (unduly) threatened by Komaeda being back in Ryslig, because he's afraid that he can't be enough for Atem. He'll do whatever it is Atem needs of him, of course. If he wants to date Komaeda and Ryou, that's fine. If he just...wants to date Komaeda, that is also fine. That being said, Ryou legitimately wants to get to know Komaeda better, to understand who he is and maybe become better acquainted, because so many of his friends care about this freaky fish guy. (or. well he's not fishy yet, but he will be soon!)
