I wish I could protect you from everything -- all of the bad things that happen here. But, that's not how this place works...

...so, I need you to do everything you can to protect yourself. Okay? For when I can't get there, or don't know about it in time...even in times like that, my wish won't change!

When things get bad again...can you protect "you" for me?

[Ryou's not sure if he could squirm any closer to Atem at this point, but he tries anyway, an arm looping around his shoulder to hold him tightly.]

You're right that you can't protect me from everything. No more than I could protect you...but as long as we're both trying, that's better than giving up. I want to be strong for you, so that you can rest easy. Or...as easy as you can.

[It might not be enough...but Ryou will try his hardest.]
